The grape de-buncher by ZTI Mechatronics from Tuitjenhorn has been nominated for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award this year. The company is specialised in projects for fruit, vegetable and flower processing. The providers of the fruit and vegetable solutions are JFPT (Benelux), Lingwood (UK and Ireland) and Kronen for other countries worldwide.
ZTI Mechatronics' machine means that de-bunching grapes no longer has to be done by hand. The grapes can be fed into the top of the GDM-35, multiple bunches at a time, and the machine makes sure that the grapes are twisted off their stalks neatly and without damage and carefully placed on the conveyor belt.
At the conveyor belt a number of employees can 'check' the work of the machine and if necessary, touch it up. Dependent on the type of grape, this machine can produce around 240 kilos of single grapes per hour.
