Rewe branch manager supports regional growers

Alexander Heindirck, branch manager of the Rewe XL branch in the German Hennef supports the regional growers. The Rewe branch gives products from the region their own origin sign. Whether they are apples or eggs, Heindrich's branch has a large number of local products.

"The regional assortment at Rewe XL is dependent on the branch. We buy fresh fruit and vegetables from the region and collaborate with growers within 30-40 kilometres. Every purchase should sustainably support the development and conservation of our region," according to Heindrich.

Why should customers buy regional products from him? "Because they have good quality and haven't travelled huge distances. Due to some long transport distances being missed out, the environment is also taxed less. Many people also feel a connection to their area. They know the growers that the product is coming from and know how it is grown. It also means that they know that the fruit and vegetables are very fresh," concludes Heindrich.
