Varekamp Coldstores are here and ready once again

Varekamp Coldstores Holland are, once again, ready for the future. The company was taken over by Kloosterboer in September, and has been now re-opened. Varekamp Coldstores belonged to the Van Rijn Group which went into bankruptcy. Willem Nowee, manager Varekamp Coldstores Holland, and Hans Kroes, CEO of Kloosterboer explained the development of recent weeks and what plans lie on the horizon for Varekamp with their new mother Kloosterboer.

Service extension
"A re-launch is a conscious decision and not one made lightly. Varekamp has become part of the group," emphasized Hans. "Kloosterboer offers a broad packet of logistic services which has now expanded." Willem adds: "In the meantime a lot of work has gone into ensuring a smooth transition and we are continuing to work on making the most of the possibility to strengthen our position in the market. Kloosterboer has a large network of refrigeration houses throughout The Netherlands and beyond. They are widely recognised within the fruit world. Certain specialised services such as customs clearance, tax representation, documents and container trucks will also run together with Kloosterboer. We need to repair the damage step by step as everything was left hanging for six weeks and in the fresh trade that is a very long time."

According to Hans, the first goal is to put Varekamp on the map once again. "This will be done through clear communication to the market. We will show that we plan to make something great. Varekamp is back with a vengeance and running at full speed under the flag of the Kloosterboer group. The mother stands behind the company providing help and advice when needed. We stand on the same foot and together we endeavour to strength the chains of service and delivery."

Specialist services
Hans: "Within the Kloosterboer group there is a club of 600 people. Some locations and group services have a collective focus on efficiency. Varekamp's activities are a nice extension of our service portfolio and so is their location, at Agri Business Centre. Next to that Varekamp is more retail orientated and has specialist services to offer, everything which you need for exporting to the European market, a full service and logistic concept." Willem: "We are located in Westland, an area with a large private production and a market share of 25 to 30% in containers which is substantial and is a nice addition. Over the coming weeks we will approach customers together and see what we can develop."

No hassle, developing the chain
Hans: "We want to keep our service focus on the logistic chain as much as possible and the addition of Varekamp enhances this further. Fruit is perishable and vulnerable. We represent quality and relieve customers of any hassle. We are a clear extension of the customer. There is more focus on core internal solutions and we offer that. Customers are completely cared for logistically so they can focus on trade. We try to not compare ourselves to others, but offer a service based on our own strengths and qualities." Willem: "If customers ask us to offer new services or activities we will get together in a group and search for a solution. Adding extra value is an essential part of business development."
