Fairtrasa expands organic fruit offering in Colombia
Fairtrasa announced the opening of its newest office in Colombia to expand its premium organic fruit offering through the implementation of its high-impact farmer development model. Headed by Managing Director Carlos Velasco, Fairtrasa Colombia will initially focus on the production and export of premium avocados, bananas, limes and physalis.
According to Founder and CEO Patrick Struebi, doing business in Colombia is vital to Fairtrasa’s growth as a social business. “There is enormous potential for Colombia’s farming sector which suffered through decades of armed conflict. Fairtrasa seeks to lead this transformation. Our customers will be happy to know their top-quality organic fruits are sourced directly from Colombia’s farmers whose lives are changing for the better and in a sustainable way.”
Martin Santos, Deputy Strategy Director of the Americas Business Council (abc*) Foundation and son of Colombia’s President Juan Carlos Santos, has expressed his personal support of Fairtrasa and believes the company’s success in Mexico, Peru and Chile can be replicated in his home country. “I’m proud to be part of Fairtrasa’s entry into Colombia and to promote sustainable agriculture that will directly benefit our farmers.”
