"Bart Aerts, AB Coolservice: "First in Belgium"

"With the AB Speedbox cooling can be energie efficient"

"The cooling of produce is crucially important, particularly for example with cherries, but also with salad and other fragile products. A possible way to optimise this cooling process is with forced flow cooling, such as that used by the AB Speedbox. Cooled air is directly circulated throughout the boxes," said Bart Aerts from AB Coolservice.

"AB Coolservice, together with the VCBT, recently conducted measuring experiments at Auction Borgloon. Cherries were cooled and compared to cherries cooled by the standard procedure. The results shown on the graph below indicate a very positive result. Cooling efficiency was increased by 75% compared to the standard method which took 6 to 10 hours."

"An AB Speedbox can be combined with an AB condensing unit. This is where moisture is added to ensure optimum quality is maintained. The AB Speedbox not only offers possibilities in the horticultural industry but also in other sectors where cooling procedures can be optimised with the minimum of energy." concluded Bart.
