export to Russia decreased by 35%

Dutch export fruit and vegetables first half year 2013 slow

During the first half year of 2013 9% less fresh fruit and vegetables of Dutch origin (excluding onions and products for industrial destinations) were exported than in the same period of 2012. 

In 2013 the export amounted to 898 million kg. against 985 million kg in 2012. During the month of June the export was 4% more than in the previous year. When comparing the period from January to June 2013 inclusive the following becomes clear:

* The export to Germany decreased by 5% from 379 to 362 million kg.
* The export to the United Kingdom decreased by 5% from 135 to 129 million kg.
* The export to Russia decreased by 35% from 75 to 49 million kg.
* The export to France increased by 11% from 50 to 55 million kg.
* The export to Sweden decreased by 22% from 53 to 41 million kg.
* The export to Italy increased by 6% from 29 to 30 million kg.
* The export to Poland decreased by 10% from 38 to 34 million kg.

Less peppers, pears, apples, mushrooms, iceberg lettuce leeks and strawberries were exported. Tomatoes, carrots and chicory were exported more than last year.
