Predicting Botrytis cinerea infection of table grapes after harvest

In Bari (Italy) on May 9th, 2013, the technical meeting aimed at manufacturers and exporters of table grapes: "Table Grapes: from harvest to market. How to extend the commercial life", was held.

During the meeting, participants were presented with studies and tools to improve the storage of table grapes and how to predict Botrytis infections.

The work summarized a comparison of different treatments that represent the techniques used in Puglia (region of South Italy - very important for the production of table grape) for the handling of table grapes from harvest to storage.



The tests were carried out in the last season by the University of Bari "Aldo Moro" - D.I.S.S.P.A.

At the event, a kit 
was presented for the phytosanitary evaluation of grapes - a useful forecasting tool to optimize the results of "DeccoGrapage", sheet of plastic based metabisulfite, used for storage and export of table grapes. (For more information, visit www.deccoitalia.com).


 
The meeting was attended by Prof. Antonio Ippolito (pictured above), University of Bari "Aldo Moro" - D.I.S.S.P.A.- presented the report "Table grapes: quality, preservation and analysis of rot after the collection".



To follow Dr. Francesco Saporito of Decco Italy Srl (pictured above) and Dr. Antonello Lepore of Orchidea Frutta Srl (pictured below), submitted a report entitled "Tools forecast of conservation: optimizing the management of the lots."



The meeting concluded with a presentation by Dr. Julien Reitano of Decco Italy Srl (pictured below), on the innovative product line "DECCONUTRITION", wide range of specialty fertilizers, liquid and water-soluble.
