Canada: The Annabelle potato in microwaveable packaging

(Home) cooks like an attractive potato with good taste, versatile cooking properties and preferably full of good nutrients. Retailers want all these characteristics for their clients, plus a nice product on the shelf that does not germinate or green quickly. Growers want a potato which is easy to grow, gives a high yield and low risk of disease. But how do you make everyone happy?

According to potato grower and packer W. P. Griffin from Canada's Prince Edward Island, the Annabelle potato meets all these criteria. The company W. P. Griffin Inc. has been growing potatoes for 60 years and would like Canada to become acquainted with the best possible potatoes. In cooperation with HZPC Americas Corp. the Annabelle variety, famous in Europe, has been tested on the Canadian market.

"This variety met all the above criteria so perfectly that we have signed an exclusive agreement with HZPC for cultivation and distribution for Canada," said John Griffin, chairman of W. P. Griffin Inc.

For additional distinction on the shelf and convenience for the consumer, W. P. Griffin have developed a microwave packaging. In this fully recyclable packaging the potatoes are ready in about 6-8 minutes. Fast, easy and very healthy.

The packaging with the Annabelle Potato SteamersTM can be found in the refrigerated section of the supermarket. Firstly this fits with the customer who is looking for convenience and secondly the potatoes stay fresh much longer.
