Lorenzini Naturamica brings melon with unique features to Fruit Logistica

The melon is Lorenzini Naturamica's historic crop and on this product an advanced system of traceability, with unique features at an international level has been developed.

Since 1998, in fact, each fruit is tested with the only Well-Brix analyzer present in Europe at the moment: only melons that have a sugar content exceeding 14° Brix can bear the signature "Lorenzini" and are branded with the attribution of a code number which identifies each fruit.

With this code, different for each melon and with the help from the company website, customers can find information and the characteristics of each individual fruit. The variety, the time of analysis, the map of the terrain of production, batch processing, the beginning of the production batch collection, date of cleaning of plants, the date of any fruit thinning and trimming, the dates of the checks as part of integrated pest management practices, the date of transplantation and the number of the nursery company from where the seedling came, fertilizer applied and above all the value of the sugar content of the analyzer Well-Brix will be displayed.

This farming company from the Mantua area - now present in the fruit and vegetable markets and in major retail chains in Italy's central northern region as well as in major European markets - has established itself over the years with its offer in the high end of the range.

The addition of a production site at the Sicilian town of Pachino has ensured an almost continuous supply coverage throughout the year. The Sicilian experience has also led to the introduction of a new product, the plum tomato, characterized by low acidity, sweetness, thin skin and small size.

Together with melon, watermelon is also an historical crop for the company. Two types in particular have emerged: the "red", large watermelon called Naturamica Lorenzini, and the "mignon", a small watermelon that meets the requirements of modern consumption, also tested to guarantee the level of sugar.

The Lorenzini Naturamica company works in an environmentally friendly way thanks to the application of the techniques of integrated pest management. Since 2011 70% of the business needs of electrical energy have been provided by a photovoltaic system on the roof of the warehouse.
