Netherlands: Daily management Cool Control in the hands of Barry and Robert Mulder

Starting this year, Robert and Barry Mulder inherited the shares in Cool Control from father Rob, who in December celebrated his 65th birthday. Rob will remain active within the cold storage company. "We can’t let 45 years of experience in the fresh produce sector go to waste. He will be less active in daily commerce, but he’ll be around. We can be sure of that," says Robert.

Both brothers have already been active at Cool Control for several years. Robert has been with the company since 1998 and Barry followed in 2007 after having acquired ample experience in logistics at C. Vreugdenhil Transport. The division of tasks between the brothers is clear. Robert is engaged in commerce and human resources, while Barry is responsible for logistics and daily planning. "We really are a flat organization. It’s all very simple and relaxed,” says Barry.

The brothers have a clear vision in mind. "We want more than just a storage. Customer demand is specific and we like to cater to that. In five years’ time, we don’t necessarily want to be bigger, but more distinguished," says Robert. "We currently employ a large team of temp workers packing fruit, led by experienced quality people. Quality control in the chain is essential. Customers need to be confident that on the other side of the globe specialists are running around properly assessing the fruit. We are, and will continue to be, the eyes and ears of our customers. "

The brothers would love to meet their customers next month at Fruit Logistica (Hall 1.2, D-06).
