Germany: Good supply of sprouts

In the past few weeks short supplies of sprouts tended to cause a few problems here and there, but this week the situation changed for the better. Growers in the north of the country have caught up and are now able to harvest sufficient quantities, according to Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI).

Sales however, are not as they should be. The retail prices, growers claim, are still much too high. Consumer prices in the past weeks were 40 to 90% higher than normal.

Insiders hope that with the supply turning to normal, prices will go down soon. This, they assume, will kick-start markets back into gear. Prices are now ranging between 1.18 and 1.58 Euro per kilo.
