Netherlands: World scoop for KUBO greenhouses
At the end of last month, KUBO Tuinbouwprojecten BV achieved a major milestone: the company’s Ultra Clima greenhouses now occupy a total of 104 ha. globally.
In 2008, Houweling Oxnard Nurseries built the first Ultra Clima greenhouse on Californian soil. Today, the first Ultra Clima in Holland is a fact. Red Star is the first to have built one, and is now planning to erect 10 acres of Ultra Clima greenhouses in Dinteloord.
In recent years the particular nurseries were also erected in Mexico (4.4 ha), France (4.7 ha), Australia (1.2 ha), Slovenia (0.5 ha) and Turkey (4 ha). In 2013 in Santa Maria in the US, another 26.5 ha will be realised.
Besides realising the first Ultra Clima in Holland, the Kaaij brothers have a big scoop: the first Ultra Clima greenhouse with grow lights, allowing Red Star tomatoes to be available all year round.
