India: 24th annual Mango Festival

This weekend the citizens of Delhi were able to explore the flavours of 500 different varieties of mango, at the 24th annual Mango Festival, in Pitampura.

"The 24th Mango Festival not only helps in popularizing the fruit but also helps in creating awareness about the research and innovation that goes into the cultivation," said a Tourism official.

The festival has varieties ranging from Bazri mango which weighs around a kg to the green coloured Anar Dana variety that weighs barely 10 grams a piece. Besides this, the festival has organized a mango eating competition and a mango slogan writing competition amongst other things.
