Greek watermelons export to increase 25%
The sunny weather and the high temperatures of the last few weeks has resulted in the earlier arrival of the product.The first exports are expected to begin around May 15-20.According to Evangelos Sofronas from Greek Stories, many things have changed in comparison with last season, mostly in the mentality of Greek producers, "their willingness to seek new markets and to free themselves from the introvert attitude of the last decades is the most remarkable change".
Greek Stories, is actively contributing to this new era by searching for new and lasting partnerships in that direction, with particular emphasis on partnerships within and outside the European Union.The constant and unique quality of Greek watermelons motivates the company to work hard and they have the belief that there are still people who appreciate natural products.
Greek Stories' goal is to make consumers and suppliers aware that the Greek watermelon with an excellent flavor and aroma, and is not treated to enhance colour or taste, just as Mother Nature intended.
The company will export 50 containers of watermelons this season, the first of which will arrive in Rotterdam, Holland on 21 May. The varieties available are: Dumara, Crisby, Obla, Cleopatra, Sugar Baby, Rugby, Crimson Sweet Karaval, Charlston Grey and Samantha.
