Fruit Logistica hugely beneficial to Farmsecure
“There was certainly an increase in the diversity of companies represented. Not only were well established brands like that of DuPont and Syngenta attending but there was a noticeable increase in the presence of smaller companies from developing nations, illustrating an improved potential for new market channels,” said Chantal Yazbek, Media and Communications Manager, Farmsecure.
The larger numbers in attendance and increased professionalism was also evident in the exhibitions of African countries who were far more active at Fruit Logistica 2012 than in previous years. This clearly highlights the continent of Africa as an important future player in the fresh produce market. Despite decreased government support for the well-established South African stand, industry pulled together to create an environment which was buzzing with activity, proving that South Africa remains a strong and relevant fresh produce player within the Southern Hemisphere.
For Farmsecure, a grower of a variety of fruit for both local and export markets, this was the first exhibition where the Company was showcased as a leading South African agricultural brand. Fully represented throughout the agricultural value chain, Farmsecure’s goal at Fruit Logistica was to introduce itself as a world class grower of South African fruit, scientifically and logistically able to manage its produce from ‘farm to shelf’. With detailed footage of its uniquely positioned 5 fruit farms displayed throughout the stand, including on interactive iPad applications describing the Group, the stand was very well visited and received by visitors and exhibitors from all corners of the world.
“Fruit Logistica was hugely beneficial to Farmsecure, as one of the top 5 fruit growers by size in the country, to introduce itself effectively in the international market,” said Johnny Maass, CEO Farming Operations, Farmsecure.Bradley Yazbek, Marketing Manager of Farmsecure Fruit, commented that “without a doubt this event assisted us, through our current marketing partnerships with Colors Fruit and other exporters, to form stronger relationships in markets where we feel that both our approach as a Company, and our fruit, has an unique edge.”
All-in-all 3 long days of intensive meetings and much industry debate resulted in what was a successful exhibition for all. With its first exhibition behind it, Farmsecure looks forward to another fruitful exhibition in Berlin in 2013.
