ILIP at fruit Logistica to show passion for packaging
These are the main new elements with which ILIP, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of rigid thermoformed plastic food packaging, will present itself at the 2012 edition of Fruit Logistica, the most important international exhibition dedicated to fruits and vegetables (stand: Hall 8.2/A-17).
The new strategic positioning of ILIP - the main division of ILPA Srl, which will be celebrating its 50 year anniversary in 2012 - is based on its wealth of experience and tradition, as well as its commitment to innovation, and marks the beginning of a journey dedicated to technological and organizational growth. The goal is to provide added value packaging solutions and to be perceived and recognized as a preferred partner by customers and suppliers. A vision whose underlying concept is the “Passion for packaging”.
This approach has also given rise to the company’s new mission: “to produce and develop excellent and sustainable thermoformed plastic packaging solutions that bring added value to the packaged product; to improve customers' brand recognition; to help reduce food waste whilst enhancing convenience and safety for consumers”.
A key component of this new strategy will also focus on the corporate social and environmental responsibility. In this regard, ILIP began an environmental sustainability program, creating product lines that make use of environmentally friendly and compostable materials.
“Today we want the concept of environmental sustainability to be understood in a broader sense,” explains Roberto Zanichelli, marketing manager for ILIP. “As well as reducing the weight of packaging and the constant research for environmentally friendly raw materials, attention is also being focused on the production of packaging that will allow contents to be transported in absolute safety, thus optimizing the management of logistics operations and reducing waste thanks to improved product preservation.”
What’s more, the recent agreement with which ILPA was awarded the leased management of the Ferrara-based company AMP represents an additional step towards the achievement of a closed-cycle for recycled PET materials. This operation, which was ratified at the end of December, will allow ILIP to integrate AMP's post-consumer PET washing facilities within its own production facilities and to internally manage this important step of the R-PET recycling process.
With regard to the products themselves, Fruit Logistica will serve as an occasion for the company to display its new “TS” range of R-Pet punnets for packaging fragile products like berries and tomatoes. These new containers offer exceptional resistance and perfect machineability while providing the products with maximum visibility and excellent ventilation.
ILIP will be present at Berlin’s Fruit Logistica trade fair, Hall 8.2/A-17, from February 8th to 10th.
