UK: Black Garlic to debut at Fruit Logistica

Black Garlic is made by treating ordinary garlic in specially designed ovens over several weeks, after which it becomes black and soft, giving it a tangy, balsamic/molasses type of flavour, completely unlike regular garlic, and without giving you bad breath! It is used as an ingredient in all sorts of dishes (although it can also be eaten raw), in a similar way to fresh herbs.

The Black Garlic range consists of a bulb (both single and twin pack, although it is the single bulb that is in all the multiple listings), peeled pot (50g and 150g) and a soon to be launched paste. The company currently imports bulk product from the USA to pack in the UK but will start manufacturing in the UK within the next 2-3 months.

Black Garlic are currently supply Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury and Budgens, as well as many independents in the UK, and the number of stockists is continuing to grow.

"We have just started to sell in Germany and we are now looking for distributors and larger customers throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa," said Charles Conder, Commercial Manager at Black Garlic.

You can see more ideas for using black garlic on the website.

Black Garlic will be at Fruit Logistica in Hall 8.2 on Stand A-05
