Chilean presence at Fruit Logistica goes from strength to strength
Most participating Chilean firms already have a presence in Europe or are doing business with European partners. In addition to consolidating these ties, attending the show will help them boost their diversification strategies as they seek to expand into new markets, including Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, and other Eastern European and Mediterranean nations.
The Chilean stand will hosting various tasting events throughout the event.
Chile shipped 2.64 million tons of fresh fruit in 2010-2011 –up 7.2 percent over 2009-2010 and an all-time record for Chile. Fresh fruit export growth was led by cherries (up 58.4%), plums (36.1%), blueberries (31.7%), mandarins (19%), oranges (17.2%), pears (15.6%), nectarines (13.3%), grapes (8.6%), lemons (6%), and peaches (3.7%).
Chile currently stands as the world’s largest source of fresh grapes, plums, and blueberries. It is also the second-largest exporter of avocados, third-largest shipper of kiwifruit and raspberries, fourth-largest exporter of peaches, and fi fth-largest source of apples.
