According to the B.C. government, there was a 7.4 percent jump in the sale of agrifood and seafood products last year. This resulted in total revenues topping $13 billion for the first time.
Government statistics show the figures for 2015 were 24 percent higher than in 2010.
Food and beverage manufacturing led this area with sales of $9.1 billion, up 9.1 percent over the previous year.
Primary agriculture sales reached $3.1 billion, which was up 4.5 percent over 2014.
"The top agricultural commodities in terms of farm cash receipts in B.C. in 2015: were dairy products, chicken, beef, greenhouse vegetables, floriculture, nursery, blueberries, eggs, mushrooms and cherries," a government news release stated. "Net cash income for primary agricultural production increased 21.5% in 2015 to $440 million, up from $362 million in 2014."
