Bernardi from Rimini

Cauliflower harvest has started in Romagna

With almost 40 hectares, Bernardi from Rimini confirms itself as a leading player this time of year as well. Crops are located in Rimini, Emilia Romagna. "Sales will officially start on September 18th with cauliflowers, further on we will also have cabbage and kraut," reports manager Christopher Bernardi.

White cauliflower is packaged in crates containing six heads or filmed and labelled, plus there are also trays with florets. "Harvesting has just started and will peak towards the end of the month. Our main clients are the big retail chains."

The produce is Zero residue under the "La Bella Stagione" brand. "In addition to Zero residue, we also have an integrated control line, for which we guarantee 70% less residues than the maximum allowed anyway. Our reference market is Italy, although we have been looking abroad. Switzerland, Austria and Germany represent our main objectives so far as part of a planned strategy. Thanks to Zero residue, we believe we can be of interest for an increasing number of operators from all over Europe."

"We would also like to get involved with new distributors, such as the catering business: especially over the past few years, in fact, the sector has been privileging partnerships focused on high-quality productions that are not just appealing and good to eat, but mostly healthy."

As for cabbage and krauts, "we are going to introduce produce cut in half and in films to be sold by weight or per piece." Starting from the concept of short chain, the company always manages to process ultra-fresh produce.

The company is located next to the processing warehouse, so a maximum 24 to 48 hours pass between harvesting and display on the shelves, with a view to reducing stalling as much as possible.
