Kamps begins Dutch dwarf bean season

"Dwarf beans have become more popular recently"

Yesterday, Kamps harvested its first dwarf beans, thus kicking off the new Dutch season. "These will go to all our local, national, and international customers year-round again," says Niels Borst, responsible for sales in the Benelux.

"Cultivating dwarf beans and legumes, in general, is an intensive task. You need plenty of skill, passion, and a focus on quality. So, we work closely with specialized product managers at our local and overseas farms and, naturally, pay attention to the environment. We contribute to a lower CO2 footprint by, for example, doing more with less and planning transport optimally. We also focus on sustainable packaging, and work with various certificates and quality labels," Niels explains.

"Dwarf beans have become more popular recently. Nationally and internationally, this vegetable is used in many different ways in dishes. A good dwarf bean? It has a fresh green color and smooth skin, is the right diameter, is blemish-free, has a whole, fresh top and end, and is almost straight. And most importantly, it should snap with freshness."

Earlier this year, Kamps found a strong partner in Scherpenhuizen. "This is our first joint green bean season, a nice milestone. With both companies' craftsmanship and expertise, we want to expand further and become one of Europe's undisputed best legume suppliers," Neils concludes.
