Fluid market and good prices for the 2023 French asparagus campaign

Fleuron d'Anjou has celebrated the end of its asparagus campaign. After a rather “timid” start due to cold weather in April, the 2023 season has turned out to be very positive. “There are still some green products left, but we finished the white asparagus last week. We have achieved our initial goal of offering white asparagus until mid-June,” explains Brahim El Hasnaoui.

The Fleuron d'Anjou team celebrated the end of the asparagus campaign.

Fluid market
“We were a little worried at the start of the season, because of the economic context. Asparagus remain an expensive product but in the end, consumption was higher than expected. The quality of our production was very good, and we also had large and interesting volumes.” The promotional actions organized in supermarkets help make the market fluid. “Retailers promoted the product everywhere in France, which was further supported by advertising on the radio. The supermarket chains also played their part, with actions at cost price that enabled producers to earn a fair return and consumers to benefit from quality products at fair prices.” This contrasts with the 2022 campaign, which started off very well but quickly ran out of steam because prices remained too high, turning consumers away from the product.

Fleuron d’Anjou is currently preparing to launch the PGI shallot campaign, which is due to start by the end of this week.
