Peruvian asparagus air exports increased by 24% in January 2023

According to information from the Foreign Trade Society of Peru (ComexPerú), in the first month of 2023, Peruvian air shipments were led by exports of fruit and vegetable products, which amounted to 8,686 tons, i.e. 1.1% more than in the same month of the previous year.

In January 2023, Peruvian fresh and refrigerated asparagus air exports totalled 4,166 tons, accounting for 48% of all air shipments. In addition, asparagus shipments increased by 24.1% over the same month of 2022.

They were followed by shipments of fresh and dried mangoes, which in amounted to 2,542 tons in January of this year and accounted for 29.3% of all air shipments. Mango shipments by air, however, decreased by 10.3% over January of 2022.

Fresh blueberries ranked third with 192 tons, experiencing a 32.1% year-on-year increase.

Frio Aéreo projected that mango air shipments could displace asparagus air shipments this year and noted that the country would start making pitahaya air shipments this year.
