The average price of Andalusian aubergines increased to € 0.59/kg

In the most recent aubergine campaign, Spanish producers have been paid an average of € 0.59/ kg for their product, i.e. 7.27% more than the average of the last ten campaigns, according to the data prepared by Hortoinfo from the Observatory of Prices and Markets of the Junta de Andalucia, based on all varieties.

This is the average price paid to growers for category I aubergine upon delivery to the warehouse or trading company, excluding VAT. This price concept does not include any type of costs attributable to the handling and marketing of the product, nor any commercial commission.

Analyzing the prices by type of product, in the 2020/2021 campaign, the average price paid to farmers for long aubergine (Cat. I) stood at €0.57/ kg, i.e. 5.55% higher than the € 0.54/ kg average price of the last ten campaigns.

The price paid to producers for category I striped aubergine was €0.76/ kg, also 5.55% higher than the € 0.72/ kg average of the last ten campaigns.

According to the report on production costs published by Hortoinfo on July 19 of this year, cultivating long-type aubergine this season had a cost of € 0.302/ kg taking into account all costs, such as labor, depreciation, seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, phytosanitary costs, water, energy, and supplies.
