Belize minister tours citrus and coconut farms

On the second day of the Southern Citrus and Coconut Tour, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, Jose Abelardo Mai, conducted an inspection of Silk Grass Farms, covering the farm and factory, and engaged in discussions with the management. This visit is part of the broader initiative to support Belize's citrus and coconut sector revitalization efforts.

The tour agenda includes a visit to TexBel Farms aimed at continuing the dialogue on industry advancement. Minister Mai's itinerary focuses on consultations with producers and stakeholders to examine both challenges and prospects within the sector.

Topics under scrutiny involve climate change adaptation, financing demands, pest and disease control, and the deployment of contemporary agricultural technologies. Additionally, the coconut segment of the tour is directed at evaluating cultivated areas and grasping the immediate concerns of southern Belizean growers.
