Several Dutch entities are evaluating Egypt as a viable market for climate and water smart agriculture advancements. This interest is driven by Egypt's significant progress in this sector. A Study Tour, facilitated by the Netherlands-African Business Council (NABC) in partnership with Delphy and Dutchhouse Delta and funded by RVO, took place from February 11th to 15th, 2024. The tour aimed to investigate the burgeoning opportunities in Egypt's protected horticulture sector and to foster partnerships between Dutch and Egyptian companies.
Participants were introduced to the ecosystem of Egypt's protected horticulture, encompassing inputs, technologies, and market dynamics. The tour offered insights into the demand for fresh produce in both local and export markets through visits to advanced greenhouse operations such as Cherryland Egypt/Kwekerij Roodpunt. These visits highlighted the potential for Dutch firms to contribute greenhouse structures, materials, and automation technologies to Egypt's horticulture industry.
