Spanish cooperative focuses on varietal development of blueberry and blackberry crops

The Moguer cooperative, Cradle of Platero SCA, is set to utilize an experimental farm for its varietal development of blueberry and blackberry crops, alongside research and development initiatives. The farm will house the Cupla blueberry variety, with the company's general director, Juan Báñez, stating, “we will continue to pamper and take care of it to offer farmers the best of us.”

Since 2016, the cooperative has maintained an R&D&i department, with innovation and development being integral to the company's operations. The department has conducted numerous R&D&I projects across the cooperative's different sectors. The experimental farm, located in the Agroexperimental Business Center of the Provincial Council of Huelva, will serve as an essential space for the cooperative’s research and development of new red fruit varieties.

“We will study sustainable cultivation techniques, we will apply new technologies and solutions to modernize our farms in different areas," Báñez stated, reaffirming Cradle of Platero's commitment to leading-edge agricultural production. The cooperative's initiative further strengthens its role as a leader in innovative and sustainable agricultural practices.

Cradle of Platero also emphasizes its commitment to social responsibility, recently receiving the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Huelva Federation of Entrepreneurs in the “Aguas de Huelva for Corporate Social Responsibility” category. This award underscores the cooperative's exceptional dedication to responsible business practices that have made a significant, positive impact on society.
