Senapati police officials have conducted the second phase field survey of poppy fields, after the destruction of more than 25 ha of poppy cultivation sites in different locations of Senapati district. Fortunately, some of the poppy fields were found totally transformed, now being utilized for vegetable cultivation on a large scale.
SP Karthik Malladi has called for promoting vegetable cultivation like this. While maintaining that the campaign to destroy poppy cultivation will continue, Malladi lauded the villagers for taking up alternative cultivation to poppies.
