Chile's Cencosud posts Q2 net loss, hit by Argentina's inflation
Chilean retailer Cencosud posted a quarterly loss of $21.9mln, as inflation in Argentina impacted its debt levels and forced it to write down the value of some assets. Stripping out the effects of the South American country's surging prices, the supermarket operator registered a profit of $65mln. Cencosud, one of South America's largest retailers, reported that its overall revenue increased 22% year-on-year to $3.812bln, excluding Argentina.

Brazil's Magazine Luiza posts Q2 adjusted net loss - hit by high interest rates
Brazilian retailer Magazine Luiza SA posted an adjusted net loss of 112.1mln reais ($21.76mln), posting a loss for the second straight quarter as its bottom line was hurt by the country's high interest rates. Magazine Luiza posted a 1.3% growth in total sales to 13.92bln reais. E-commerce sales grew 2% in the quarter to 10bln reais.

UK: Tesco electrifies deliveries to more than 400 city centre stores
In an industry first, Tesco has become the first retailer to launch a zero-emission electric lorry to make deliveries from its distribution centres to stores in city centres. The first electrically-powered lorry of its kind, made by Renault Trucks, is now delivering to more than 400 stores in Greater London, with further electric lorries entering service in the coming months. The lorry has a range of up to 130 miles and is able to carry the same payload as the diesel truck it replaces.
