The 20th edition of the AGRITRADE, Expo & Conference platform is being planned to take place in May. It will serve to showcase the best exportable supply from Guatemala and the region, thereby helping promote agricultural development and boost exports. On this occasion, recognition will be given to Agricultural Innovation and new businesses will be promoted in new markets.

The Guatemalan agricultural sector has managed to consolidate over the past year, currently generating around 2.3 million jobs throughout the country. Among its main trading partners, the United States remains the main destination, followed by Canada, Honduras, Costa Rica and El Salvador, among others.

According to the latest figures from the Bank of Guatemala, the agricultural sector was reported to be the country's second largest exporting sector in 2021, with US$ 4,163 million of the US$ 13,594 exported by the whole country. It also saw a growth of 6.7% compared to the value exported in 2020 and accounted for 30.63% of the national exportable supply in terms of value. Regarding agricultural products, there was growth in the case of unroasted coffee, bulbs, roots and ornamental plants, with 18.4%, and vegetables, with 15%.

"The AGRITRADE, Expo & Conference platform continues to be the most important fair in the region promoting agricultural development and boosting exports. This year we will have a wide range of products, including vegetables, fruits, inputs and services, processed products and ornamental plants, among others. We can confirm the participation of 100 decision makers, which will generate opportunities to close new business deals and give a boost to both the sector and the country," said the president of the AGRITRADE Organizing Committee, Estuardo Castro.

AGRITRADE, Expo & Conference will be held in May 18-20 in Santo Domingo del Cerro, Antigua Guatemala, and will feature 30 international speakers who will address topics such as: opportunities for diversification of the agricultural supply; success stories in increasing mango sustainability; how to export to Canada; MRLs, trends and regulations in Europe, and a discussion on the marketing of Central American fruits, among many more.
