Ocado strikes tech deal with Auchan Poland
Britain’s Ocado said it had struck a partnership with Auchan Retail Poland to provide its online delivery and picking technology at an automated centre, and its picking services in its food and non-food stores. Ocado, an online supermarket group that has sold its robotic picking technology to retailers around the world, said the 2 firms would also explore opportunities in other geographies, after it partnered with Auchan’s Spanish Alcampo business last year.

Israel: Paz seeks to nix Shufersal takeover by Amir brothers
Paz Oil Company notified the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that it opposes the bid by Yossi and Shlomi Amir to buy control of supermarket chain Shufersal. Paz says that the Amir brothers signed a 3-year non-compete agreement with it when it bought the Freshmarket chain from them last year. "The company has informed the Amir brothers in writing that their offer represents a breach of their commitment not to compete for a period of 36 months from the date of completion of the merger (until January 1, 2025), and also a breach of their duties under law as officers of Freshmarket. In the light of the above, the company has informed the Amir brothers that they must withdraw their offer to buy shares in Shufersal", Paz's notice to the stock exchange states.

China's JD Logistics agrees to buy courier company Deppon
Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com Inc said that its subsidiary JD Logistics Inc has agreed to buy domestic courier Deppon Logistics Co Ltd. Under the deal, JD Logistics will acquire 99.99% equity stake in Deppon Holdco for a total consideration of about 9bln yuan ($1.42bln). Deppon Holdco owns a total of about 66.50% of Deppon Logistics. JD Logistics will then make an offer for all the issued shares of Deppon Logistics not held by Deppon Holdco, for 13.15 yuan per share.
