German food delivery group Delivery Hero said it would scale down its Foodpanda operations in Germany and sell the subsidiary's Japan unit, citing increased competition and labour shortages. Delivery Hero said Foodpanda would exit Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart, though it had only introduced the brand in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart a month earlier as part of a broader expansion programme in Germany.

Zepto, a 10-minute grocery delivery app in India, raises $100mln
Zepto, a Mumbai-based startup that operates a 10-minute instant grocery delivery service, has more than doubled its valuation to $570mln from $225mln less than 2 months ago as it expands into newer cities. Y Combinator’s Continuity Fund led the $100mln Series C round in Zepto, the 2 said. Glade Brook, Nexus, Breyer Capital, Lachy Groom, Global Founders Capital and Contrary Capital also participated in the round, which brings its to-date raise to $160mln.

Morrisons is giving away 10,000 wonky British carrots to customers who want to leave out refreshments for Father Christmas and his reindeer on Christmas Eve. Belgian retail group Louis Delhaize has signed a sale & lease back transaction with Austrian group Supernova for its real estate portfolio in Romania, the retailer's unit Cora Romania said. Louis Delhaize will continue to operate the 6 Cora hypermarkets associated with the transaction in an anchor-tenant mode, Cora Romania said in a press release. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
