Empowering sustainable economic development

Dole Wonderful World themed booth shows up at the 4th CIIE

On November 5, 2021, the 4th China International Import Expo officially kicked off. As the world's first national exhibition with the theme of import, it promotes the strengthening of economic and trade exchanges and cooperation among countries around the world, and for brands, it is a stage on which to show themselves to China. As one of the board members of the China Import Expo Alliance, Dole has participated in the Expo for four consecutive years.

In view of the rising awareness of COVID on people's health, the emergence of global climate extremes, and the energy crunch, Dole has been upholding the concept of symbiotic sustainability of human health and the earth's ecology. At the 4th CIIE, in order to help achieve the Dole Promise of environmental carbon neutrality, and in line with the concept of common prosperity and reduction of food waste, Dole will create a theme of environmental carbon neutrality and sustainable development with creative visual art. The Dole WONDERFUL WORLD booth is dedicated to the Dole Promise - to achieve carbon neutrality in its own system by 2030. Presenting the four social values of low carbon/sharing/health/sustainability in line with the concept of the CIIE, we will create our own Dole Wonderful World.

Use light and shadow to create a wonderful world belonging to Dole
The booth adopted the yellow-orange color, which symbolises sunshine, youth and vitality, as the main color, embellished with bright colors such as red, green and blue, adding highlights to all the details. Looking down from the top of the booth, you will see a variety of fruit shapes strung together, and the Dole logo is perfectly combined with it, so you can feel the originality of the design at a glance.

The layout of the lower booth uses different materials and forms to divide the space into 13 different functional areas, and the booths are progressively built from top to bottom by the colors of light and shadow, just like the sunlight falling down and shining on everything in the world, signifying that Dole spreads sunlight and joy around the world, weaving a colorful Dole Wonderful World.

Implementing the environmental sustainability concept of the Dole Promise
The design of the Dole booth will implement the Dole Promise, presenting the four values of low carbon, sharing, health and sustainability, which coincides with the "four platforms" function of the CIIE, namely "deepening international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchange and open cooperation."

In 2020, Dole announced its global brand promise, including the commitment to provide quality nutrition to one billion people by 2025, zero loss of fruit, zero added refined sugar in all products, and carbon neutrality of its own system by 2030. Dole wants everyone, regardless of age, gender, or income, to have access to nature's gift of nutrients, and is taking action to reduce this gap. At the same time, Dole is also working to help local communities through sustainable farming and development, to protect the environment and to provide consumers with more secure fruit and vegetable products. Dole's philosophy of quality first will never stop, and Dole will continue to strive to ensure better and safer products and deliver more sunshine to consumers.

Selected natural environmental panels, to create Dole environmental transfer box
In order to support the environmental protection concept of CIIE and the Dole promise, we will use natural corn straw for the first time in the design of our booth to replace wood panels and make Dole transfer boxes. Compared with traditional building materials, the use of corn straw can save energy consumption of about 40% - a ton of corn straw can save 2 tons of wood. It realizes the "grass instead of wood", which really helps the sustainable development of environmental protection. The Dole transit box made of corn stalks can achieve zero formaldehyde emissions. From the production to the use of the link, there is little or no pollution of the environment, so it's very safe and clean. The Dole transfer box will be loaded with fresh fruits picked from all over the world, and will flow non-stop on a conveyor belt, symbolizing the concept of Dole fruit running globally and sustainable development.

Contributing to sustainable development, delivering quality Dole fruit to the "world"
This year, Dole brought more than 50 kinds of fresh fruit and vegetable exhibits from more than 10 countries around the world, including the Philippines, Belgium, Peru and Thailand, and 9 of them were debuted as new products. These exhibits were loaded in Dole's environmental protection transfer box and placed on the conveyor belt for a non-stop flow, expressing the concept of Dole's products coming from all over the world and sustainable development, which is exactly the same as the CIIE's "positioning in the global".

It echoes the concept of the CIIE as a "global, national economic development growth link". As stated in Dole Promise, we are committed to providing quality nutrition to one billion people and sharing value with all stakeholders. The Dole transfer case carries quality fruits from all over the world and flows non-stop on the conveyor belt, signifying that Dole fruits come from all over the world and are delivered globally, hoping to share delicious freshness and sunshine health with everyone and help sustainable economic development.
