Ludan Fresh Supplies

Sempreverde - alternative aromatic plants

"The Sempreverde range represents a sustainable and affordable way of bringing home aromatic herbs. Unlike the traditional pots, plants in cells are contained in smart anti-humidity cardboard boxes. There are multiple benefits to this: a longer shelf life that avoids waste and a solution that inputs less plastic on the market. What is more, as the packaging is less bulky, the logistics is less impactful as it is possible to transport higher quantities with a single carrier," reports Luigi D'Aniello, sales manager at Ludan Fresh Supplies, a company located in Eboli (Salerno), in the heart of the Sele plain.

Ludan Fresh Supplies is a young dynamic company set up in April 2020. It specializes in packed unwashed aromatic herbs destined to be consumed fresh.

The company boasts sturdy collaborations with Sicilian companies, ensuring a longer calendar for some products. This year, it has set up new collaborations with companies in Basilicata and Apulia mainly for parsley, dill and coriander.

"The winter season has not been particularly thrilling for fresh aromatic herbs. The market was not very lively, except around Christmas and Easter. The campaign was characterized by an excessive demand for sage, which lacked for the entire period. Luckily, we managed to guarantee the product thanks to our collaborations on the Sicilian territory. Despite the difficult winter, we managed to supply loose aromatic herbs working mainly with the foreign market, which represents 70% of our turnover. The packaged produce did not do so well, but we are focusing on strengthening its presence."

"Now, after a livelier spring market which saw an increase in the demand of all products, the perspectives for the summer campaign are encouraging. As of mid-summer, we will restart planning the crops. We are currently starting with the supplies for the summer season in Europe."
