“Thanks to a network of producers spread over three basins, we will be able to supply the market”

With three production basins - the Loire Valley, the southwest and the southeast/Rhône Valley -, the Juliet® apple campaign, produced exclusively in France and organically, will be a bit peculiar this year. The frost episodes at the beginning of April have also affected the apple sector.

“The statistics are not in yet for the harvest prediction but we know that some regions are more affected than others. The Rhône Valley and Provence have suffered more from the frost, and the Loire Valley is less affected,” explains Jean-Noël Carles, president of the association “Les Amis de Juliet”, which brings together 150 producers of Juliet® apples. “I would estimate that at this stage, we could be at 70% of the 2020/2021 season.”

New orchards
The new Juliet orchards that are starting to produce will help slightly compensate for the losses. “We will be in a production deficit compared to a normal year, but thanks to the network of producers spread over three basins, we will still be able to supply the market. For the rest of this campaign, we will have products available until the end of July.”

In an effort to reduce ecological footprint and waste, the Juliet apple packaging is made from recycled materials, and they are also recyclable and biodegradable. Besides the bulk trays, they are available in trays with Home compostable and biodegradable film, as well as in 100% cardboard trays for the retailers who wish to use them.
