This year the certified organic apples, increasingly popular and requested on the market, will be able to satisfy demand all year-round.
In fact, Biosüdtirol, the VOG Consortium member cooperative based in Lana (Bolzano) and specialising entirely in organic apples, has harvested 37,500 tonnes of apples as opposed to 28,000 during the last sales season. This is thanks to the arrival of 50 new partner farmers, which has made it possible to increase the organic surface area from 650 to 800 hectares.
Flavour, shelf-life and varietal innovation are also the decisive qualities in the organic segment. In recent years the range has been enriched with the arrival of Natyra®, Story® Inored and Bonita; now the goal is to introduce suitable new varieties in the second part of the season, from May to July/August.
