"We got organic pumpkins from New Zealand in March. They are top quality from the best soil and fantastic climate. We have the Orange Summer variety grown there. This is a great, flavorful, and aromatic variety with a Brix level of 14. This variety is typically not too wet or dry. You can use it for anything in the kitchen. From soups to grilling and in the oven. More than 100 hectares were successfully sown in September and October," says Jeroen Robbers on behalf of De Terp Squashpackers from Erichem, the Netherlands.
They received the containers in March and April. These are now being sorted and washed for the supermarkets. "In the first 'corona week', we had to do a lot of catching up. We needed to resupply the stores. We had record sales. As things stand now, we are back to normal. The New Zealand season will go as planned through to May."
