Two new firm flesh varieties for Europlant France

Two new varieties of Europlant France potatoes have been accepted in the Firm Flesh category. The varieties are called Monique and Glorietta. Léa Roussineau is very pleased with this development. “In France, a variety can be sold in supermarkets in the Steam, Sauté category only if it is a Firm Flesh variety. After two years of testing, we now know that our varieties have been accepted in the category.”

In order to be in the Firm Flesh category, Geves tests several criteria, including resistance and blackening during cooking, yields, the shape of the tuber, as well as the regularity of the skin and storage capacities.

Monique is a semi-early variety, productive, with a light yellow skin and an oblong shape. Its skin presents a very nice regularity (9/9).

Already multiplied to 150 ha in Germany, Glorietta is an early variety, with yellow flesh and a very interesting taste (4/4).

Both varieties are intended for the fresh market and complete the Europlant France range, following the Allians and Valéry varieties.
