"Chilean cherry prices in China volatile"

“The volume of Chilean cherries arriving in China has increased this week, and it is expected that the market price will decline accordingly. In general, compared with last year, the volume has increased and the overall quality is similar. Our supply is expected to last through the Chinese New Year,” Bill Han from Zhengzhou Chen's Sun Fruit and Vegetable Trade Co. Ltd. said.

“Prices this year are very volatile, which is a result of a few factors. First of all, China's economic downturn has weakened consumers’ purchasing power. Secondly, shipping schedules have been unstable. Moreover, this year's Chinese New Year arrives earlier than usual, meaning that the market has to absorb larger volumes in a shorter period of time, so prices are under pressure. "

“Earlier, Chilean cherries arrived by air and were sold at high prices due to the low volume. With the start of sea freight shipping, large volumes are now arriving, which is expected to further reduce the market price. Compared with previous years, the market competition is more fierce. On the one hand, the volume has increased, on the other hand, the prime sales window ramping up to the Chinese New Year is shorter.”

“Currently, our Chilean cherries are mainly distributed to Shanghai, Guangzhou, Qingdao, and Xi'an, and we mainly focus on the Zhengzhou market. Although we currently have less sales in other cities, with the development of secondary cities, we plan to ship larger volumes directly to these markets in the future. Our sales feedback shows that small sizes are the most popular due to lower prices. "

The company will take part in Fruit Logistica in Berlin to further increase its activities in the overseas markets. All visitors are welcome at their stand at Stand B-07 in Hall 7.2c.
