Dirk van Nieuwkerk, Anaco Greeve:

"Nothing crazy, expensive or cheap on the tomato market"

According to Dirk van Nieuwkerk of Anaco Greeve, the Christmas bustle in the day trade has long been a thing of the past. "That time has gone. Nowadays almost all products are available all year round and everything continues as normal in the festive period. In fact, there is nothing different going on than other months of the year. For those who supply the supermarkets, that may be different, but we are not in that trade. "

In the photo Dirk is featured back when there was still a Christmas rush in the fruit and vegetable trade (70s)

The tomato market is also just going about its usual business according to the tomato seller. "Nothing striking, expensive, cheap or crazy. Prices are at a reasonable level. We are now seeing more demand coming from Belarus. It is of course a somewhat strange sales week with the Christmas days on Wednesday and Thursday. This traditionally makes it harder to get Spanish trade here. Not surprising, as those drivers want to be home during the holidays, just like everyone else."
