International players in the pear sector to meet in Rotterdam for Interpera 2020

In 2020 Interpera , the International Pear Congress will take place from 23 to 25 June 2020 in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). For this 13th edition, it will be co-organised by AREFLH and DPA, the Dutch Produce Association. Interpera aims to bring together international producers, traders and players around technical and economic issues such as the recent developments and prospects of the pear production.

On the agenda this year: the first day (June 23) will be dedicated to visits to different orchards and companies and research station in the Betuwe, the fruit area in the center of the Netherlands, to study the pear varieties, research and packaging facilities.

The main conference will take place on June 24 in the charming Zalmhuis in Rotterdam. The first part of the congress will be dedicated to market developments, with the communication of the summer pear crop forecasts, developments and prospects of the global market. The presentations will then move on to sustainability and the consumer. In the afternoon, the focus will be placed on technical issues such as pear varieties, research and innovation. All day, round tables will allow sharing experiences and discussions on the current challenges facing the pear production.

After the conference the gala dinner will take participants to the 185m-high Euromast Tower, an impressive, very slowly rotating, restaurant which enjoys impressive views on the city.

For the third day (25 June) the Interpera organizers are teaming up with the Pear Day, in Krabbendijke in the south west of the Netherlands. More than 1.000 local and international visitors, arboriculturists, technicians and partners of the sector are expected to share their knowledge on production, innovation, crop protection, fertilization and sales. Another event not to be missed for networking, sharing expertise and discussing solutions to the current challenges of the world of pears.
