Urban farming has recently come into play at the Mercedes-Benz do Brasil truck and bus plant in São Bernardo do Campo. According to the company, organic vegetables are grown in a greenhouse next to the main restaurant, in accordance with organic farming guidelines. This is used for the customers of the factory canteens and is also available for purchase by the employees. Employees can also order a weekly crate of vegetables for use at home.
Depending on the size of the harvest, some of the vegetables are also donated to social institutions such as "Hamburgada do Bem" and the Meimei social welfare institution, which provide aid for needy children and young people.

Partnership with BeGreen
The project was developed in cooperation with start-up company BeGreen, which has been active in the field of sustainable food production since 2014 and is responsible for controlling the cultivation process and administration.
The current crops on site include baby salad, rocket salad, spinach, watercress and chicory, as well as parsley, mint, chives, coriander, basil and sage. The cultivation of tomatoes and eggplants is also being planned.
