New products to be crowd-tested at Anuga

At Anuga, Bösch Boden Spies will, for the first time in the company's history, use crowd testing to give trade fair visitors a say in the addition of two potential new products to its range. The Hamburg-based company will also be presenting new product variants of proven ingredients, and innovative application concepts.

The crowd testing focuses on two new products with special functionalities: haskap and sea buckthorn. The Japanese haskap berry is particularly rich in antioxidants and is traded as a new superfood.

Sea buckthorn, also called “lemon of the north,” not only contains a lot of vitamin C but also vitamin B12, which is especially valuable for vegetarians and vegans. Bösch Boden Spies will be presenting the two ingredients in two specially created “Future Product Zones” at its two exhibition stands in Hall 8.1, B021 (haskap as frozen berries and in cocktails) and in Hall 10.2, A080 (sea buckthorn as dried berries, pure and chocolate coated). Interested trade fair visitors are invited to sample the products and rate the ingredients’ taste and functional properties as well as their market relevance based on guiding questions. Depending on the testers’ feedback, Bösch Boden Spies will later decide whether to add the two products to its portfolio.

Besides potential new additions to its range, the company will also be presenting new variants of familiar, proven ingredients. Last fall’s successful launch of Crunchy CranberriesTM from Ocean Spray was followed by a new product variant: Diced Crunchy CranberriesTM. Thanks to their high process tolerance, they can be used in a wide variety of production applications, for example in plain chocolate bars or ice cream. (Hall 10.2, A080)

In collaboration with its Brazilian brand partner Niagro, Bösch Boden Spies presents five innovative product concepts based on acerola. At the Acerola Tasting Station, visitors can get inspiration for their own product development in the beverage, ice cream, yoghurt, and confectionery sectors. Acerola delivers an extra portion of vitamin C and antioxidants in these concepts. (Hall 8.1, Stand B021)
