Celery available throughout the year at SIPO

Celery may seem like a simple product, yet, if one is able to diversify the supply, it acquires a higher value in the eye of consumers. This is precisely the objective of SIPO, one of the leading Italian specialists in the segment.

Wrapped celery under the Sapori del Mio Orto and Verdure di Romagna brands

"We are about to place the produce on the market under the Verdure di Romagna brand. It is available throughout the year thanks to our specialized producers located in various parts of Italy and covering almost 40 hectares," explains manager Massimiliano Ceccarini.

The produce from Emilia Romagna becomes available in June and harvesting continues throughout July. Then it is the turn of celery from Fucino, which initially overlaps with that from Romagna and is available until September. Between September and March, celery comes from various parts of Puglia, mainly from the Foggia province and Andria. Lazio harvests celery in April and May.

The vegetable mix to make broth and other cooking bases

"We have both green and white celery, available both packed unwashed loose (full-length or cut); packed as celery hearts in trays; packed as celery stalks or as part of the mix to make broth (which also includes carrots, onions and parsley."

The company employs integrated cultivation techniques and some of the produce is organic. "We work with highly professional growers and that is why we manage to keep quality high even in years with adverse weather such as this one. On our part, we try to reward them with a fair price and swift payments."

"For example, we pay our producers 30 days after the product is delivered and everyone knows just how important this is as, often, payments are made after months and months."
