"First open-field peaches from Hebei will enter the Chinese market next month"

As the weather grows warmer every day, the variety of domestic fruit in the market grows more abundant. Cherries, blueberries, and muskmelon entered the market in large volumes this month.

Pan Kaituo from Hebei Shenzhou Kexianchang Rural Cooperation gave a quick overview of the Chinese fruit market: "We grow and sell pears and apricots in Shenzhou, Hebei. Our apricots are about to mature. The first harvest of apricots takes place on May 19th. We mainly sell our apricots through online trade companies, corporations, and large-scale client companies. Our production volume is limited and we have a steady client base, which means that we quickly sell out. However, our fruit trees will mature and reach their most productive stage next year. We expect our production volume to double."

"We also produce peaches. Our production volume is several million kg. The supply period begins every year around June 15th and lasts until October. There are peaches on the market right now, but these are greenhouse peaches and their flavor is not great, nor are they sweet enough. Open-field peaches receive much more sunlight and they have more time to mature and so tend to be sweeter.

Greenhouse farmers limit the time peaches have to mature. This has an effect on product quality. The price of greenhouse peaches is high, because supply is limited, but the quality is not good."

"The market competition for open-field peaches is intense. The supply season for peach production areas in north China will begin around the same time. Our peaches, however, are aimed at the high-end market. These peaches are relatively sweet and we do not use chemical pesticide. Our peaches are healthy. We have a production area of 27 hectares for fragrant apricots and Shenzhou honey peaches. We supply by the truckload."
