Fellini Patrizio grows produce 150 meters from the facility

People often talk about local produce even when it is not true. The Fellini Patrizio company can rightly claim that its produce is local as the fields where lettuce is currently being harvested are located a few dozen meters from the processing plant.

"Just a few minutes pass between harvesting and packaging. I do not believe produce fresher than ours actually exists. At the moment, we are currently harvesting various types of lettuce, including Gentilina Rossa," explains Emile Fellini.

Retail stores are requiring produce that is more and more sustainable, so Fellini has eliminated chemical weeders and opted for mechanical weeding between rows.

"The lettuce market is rather flat at the moment as there is too much produce available. In Romagna, the produce is 23 days early while there are delays in the south. Partial overlaps prevent quotations from increasing."

Wholesalers and retailers are rather interested in carrots with leaves in set-weight packets. "The leaves are a guarantee that the produce is fresh. The carrots come from Latina and we package it in 500 gram bags. The price hovers around €1.40 a bag."
