Spanish trade union CCOO calls port workers strike on April 17

The reason for the strike is the impasse in the collective labour agreement talks, which still does not have the approval of the Ministry of Finance although the Ministry of Public Works has approved it.

About 5,000 workers have seen their severance rights and compensation affected, while the productivity bonuses have been frozen since 2010. All of the above has meant a wage cut close to 30%, CCOO told portseurope.com.

The strike called by CCOO will affect the entire Spanish state-owned port system, composed of 28 port authorities.
