The Bureau of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development in the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development revealed that the value of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable export reached 294 million USD in March. This brings the total value of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable export in the first quarter of 2019 up to 879 million USD. This is a decline of 9.3% in comparison with the same period last year. China was the largest export destination for Vietnamese fruit and vegetables in the first two months of this year. The Chinese market absorbed 73.1% of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable export. This is a decline of 17.7% in comparison with the same period last year. The value of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable export to China reached 428 million USD.
The vice-director of the Bureau of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development, Li Qinghe, stated that China recently strengthened the regulations for inspection of imported fruit and vegetables. China will implement strict regulations regarding the labeling and packaging of imported fruit and vegetables from May 1st, 2019.
