Myanmar increases banana supplies to China

The price of bananas recently showed an overall increase in banana production areas in southwest China. The sudden and rapid increase was at its strongest in the first week of March but weakened in the second week. In some production areas the price stopped rising, but the average banana price still steadily climbs.

People in the industry point out that the period from February to May is the peak period of banana supply from Myanmar. Even though the supply volume is already quite large, it is expected to increase by 40% between the end of March and the middle of April. Banana supplies from production areas in Yunnan, Laos, and Myanmar have not yet reached full capacity. The price is currently ideal, but there is still room for the supply from Myanmar to grow, which would slow down the price increase.
