Decline was smaller than in previous years

China: Vegetables prices fall after the holidays

At present, in Weifang, Shandong, the price of vegetables is slightly lower than that before the holiday, but it is still at a higher price than usual, and the decline is smaller than the same period last year. A number of vegetable growers said that Weifang City had fine weather around the Spring Festival, which is particularly beneficial for the growth of greenhouse vegetables. At present, the supply of vegetables is sufficient, but because the vegetables have not yet been supplied to the market in large quantities, the price is still somewhat high. It is expected that after February 15th, the price of vegetables is expected to drop significantly.

If there is continuous rainy weather, it will affect the humidity in the greenhouse and the photosynthesis of vegetables, which will eventually affect the growth of vegetables. During the Spring Festival this year, although there was a cooling down, the sunlight was sufficient and the vegetables grew well. At the same time the temperature is now rising.

The staff of Shouguang Agricultural Products Logistics Park said that, at present, the vegetable supply in Weifang mainly comes from local greenhouses and from southern production areas. The weather during the Spring Festival is very good and the vegetable transportation was hardly affected by the weather. The local greenhouse vegetables grow well and the supply is sufficient. The price of the vegetables will drop.
